Companies are redefining the criteria for choosing where to establish their operations; in this context, LEED certifications play a key role in the development of industrial spaces worldwide.
Created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most recognized and widely used sustainable building certification globally.
Its purpose is to evaluate and validate that a building has been designed, constructed, and operated under criteria that promote energy efficiency, responsible water use, waste management, indoor environmental quality, and the reduction of environmental impacts.
The role of LEED in the evolution of Mexican manufacturing
The Mexican industry must also consider the relevance of these certifications.
In sectors such as automotive, electronics, aerospace, medical devices, and advanced logistics, the availability of certified buildings is an increasingly important criterion for investment decision-making.
This trend reflects that sustainability is already part of the business strategy.
Infrastructure prepared for the future
LEED certifications also address challenges that will shape the future of the industry, such as energy efficiency, operational continuity, and carbon emissions reduction.
Industrial buildings designed under sustainability standards improve company performance and strengthen their ability to meet new market demands.
One step closer to a more sustainable industry
In June, the MULTI V Aguascalientes project by FINSA achieved the LEED Volume V4 Certified level, achieving the following impacts:
12% energy savings.
37.8% water savings indoors.
100% water savings outdoors.
236,554.9 gal/year reduction in water consumption.
8,116.25 kg of waste diversion.
29.64 kg/m2 waste density per built area.
116.8 tCO2e/year avoided CO2 emissions.
For FINSA, adding a new certified building to its portfolio reaffirms a long-term vision: to drive industrial infrastructure that generates value for its clients, strengthens Mexico's competitiveness, and contributes to the construction of a more responsible and future-ready industry.
LEED-certified projects by FINSA
FINSA's sustainability strategy has been strengthened through a growing portfolio of industrial developments certified under the LEED standard. Currently, the company has projects that have achieved Certified, Silver, and Gold levels, reflecting its commitment to energy efficiency, responsible resource use, and the reduction of environmental impacts.
To date, the company has a total of 45 certified projects, of which 19 are at the Gold level, 12 at the Silver level, and 14 at the Certified level, consolidating its goal of developing world-class industrial spaces.
