In the current context of global economic reconfiguration—which framed the discussions at the Davos Forum and the increasing fragmentation of supply chains—nearshoring is consolidating itself as one of the main drivers for the manufacturing industry in North America. For Mexico, this opportunity is supported by a key structural advantage: its integration into the USMCA, which positions it as a strategic partner for production operations geared toward the regional market.
However, capitalizing on this moment requires more than geographical proximity. The competitiveness of Mexican manufacturing will depend on the country's ability to offer solid and sustainable conditions: modern infrastructure, sufficient energy, specialized talent, and a regulatory environment that provides certainty for long-term investments.
Transforming nearshoring into an effective strategy involves moving from short-term impulses to a clear vision of industrial development, capable of strengthening productive regions and generating sustained added value over time.
